Group Classes

We're offering some special 3-week group classes at the Swing Dynamite dance studio in Ottawa. Maria will be teaching these classes with her competition partner, David Ward.

Location for all group classes is: Swing Dynamite, 151 Chapel Street @ Rideau.

Thursdays, April 8, 15, 22 (3 weeks) 5:30-7:00pm	Dynamite Technique: Secrets of Competitive WCS Level: Beginner-Plus Instructors: Maria Ford & David Ward Pre-requisites: Level I & II of either WCS or Swing, and a few months of practice. You don't need to be a competitor to benefit from this class, but you'll better understand the dance and how to make it look GREAT. This class will focus on the essences of the dance: connection, anchoring, stretch, posture, grounding, footwork, as well as reinforcing excellent technique in the basic patterns you already know. Thursdays, May 6, 13, 0 (3 weeks) 5:30-7:00pm	Go With the Flow (WCS) Level: Intermediate Instructors: Maria Ford & David Ward Pre-requisites: WCS Level I & II plus 3-6 months of practice. Leaders will learn to flow their WCS patterns together to make the dance more fluid. Followers will learn to maintain constant movement through their bodies to increase femininity in their movement. Everyone will learn new skills related to timing and texture, body shaping, and different anchor styles. Thursdays, June 10, 17, 24 (3 weeks) 5:30-7:00pm	Fancy Footwork for Leaders & Followers (WCS) Level: Intermediate Instructors: Maria Ford & David Ward Pre-requisites: WCS Level I & II plus 3-6 months of practice. Leaders & followers will learn cool footwork variations that won’t disrupt the partnership and connection. They’ll also learn to create their own fancy footwork. Leaders will also learn to lead some fun partnered footwork variations. Dave & Maria will teach some of their own favorite stylings.
