West Coast Swing, Hustle, Partnered Blues
I have danced since I could barely walk. At two years old my body instinctively moved to song or to drumming or clapping, yet I never wished to learn to play instruments. At four, I asked for (and started!) dance lessons. Later, I watched Solid Gold on TV and fell in love with Darcel Wynne’s gorgeous rhythmical body and movement. Dance enlarged my small world and connected me to individuals and worlds far from my own.
I trained, competed, and performed in modern jazz as well as tap, ballet, swimming and synchronized swimming before discovering partner dance. I now focus on West Coast Swing, Hustle & Blues, and continue to train in and explore other partner dances.
Since 2007 I have trained and coached both social and competitive dancers and dance teams. A former College Professor and Communications Coach, my experience and training in teaching adults transfers to my approaches for teaching dance. In 2012 I was awarded Master’s-level certification from the Professional Dance Instructors Association, which enables me to train, test and certify other dance instructors to be the best communicators and coaches they can be.
This is not my full-time job, but it is a full-time passion! When I am not dancing, I am a business owner and professional communicator (KCI Marketing).
I am a member of the World Swing Dance Council and the International Hustle Dance Association.
